April is National Stress Awareness Month, making it the perfect time to try new strategies for stress relief. The Faculty Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) is here to help Emory University staff and faculty year-round and is adding to its resources by launching two new virtual programs this month focused on stress management.
Mindfulness Practice
Practicing mindfulness can help reduce stress, anxiety, loneliness and depression, and enhance clarity, patience, sleep and overall health. Beginning April 13, weekly sessions will be held Tuesdays at 12 p.m. The first 15 minutes will include education about mindfulness, followed by guided exercises and time for Q&A. Once you’ve learned the educational component, feel free to log in at 12:15 p.m. for following sessions. Learn more.
Anxiety Toolbox
This three-session seminar is designed to help participants cope with the day-to-day experience of anxiety that can seem overwhelming at times. Two series will be offered, so if one of dates in the first series doesn’t work, you may register for a date in the second series. Sessions will be limited to 50 participants. Learn more and register.
- Series 1: April 21, April 28 and May 5, 9–9:50 a.m.
- Series 2: May 19, May 26 and June 2, 1–1:50 p.m.
“As we continue to face challenges related to the pandemic and begin transitioning to increased work on campus, we need to make self-care a priority,” says Robin Huskey, manager of education and outreach for Emory FSAP. “The more stress management skills we learn and practice, the better we’ll be able to cope with daily pressures and uncertainty.”
